Gabe Dynes took the long way home. The 7-foot-5 center from Independence, Kentucky averaged 12.6 points and 9.8 rebounds at Simon Kenton High School while shooting 74% from the field, then began his college career at Youngstown State. There he made the Horizon League All-Freshman Team in 2023-24, earned two league All-Defensive Team selections, and as a sophomore led the nation with 104 blocks. Dynes transferred to USC for 2025-26, appearing in 30 games with six starts and averaging 2.9 points, 2.3 rebounds and a block in roughly 12 minutes per game while shooting 78.8% from the floor. On April 26, 2026, he chose Louisville over Kentucky after visiting both schools, returning to his home state for his final season of eligibility. He is expected to back up fellow transfer Flory Bidunga and give Pat Kelsey's Cardinals a second proven rim protector in the frontcourt.
