Wooley grew up in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and played at Paul W. Bryant High School before landing at Kennesaw State, where he delivered one of 2024-25's best freshman seasons: 18.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game on 51.2 percent shooting and 42.2 percent from three, earning Conference USA Freshman of the Year honors and a record 11 Freshman of the Week awards. He entered the portal on March 26, 2025, and committed to Louisville five days later, rated a top-10 portal addition by 247Sports and On3. His sophomore year meant a smaller role on a loaded roster: 35 appearances, 16 starts, and 8.7 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 22.5 minutes per game, highlighted by a season-high 21 points in a 90-70 December win at California. After the season he became the first scholarship Cardinal to announce his return for 2026-27, one of only two players back under Pat Kelsey.
